I decided it was time to shine a light on the top officials at institutions whose student-athletes would feel the tremendous harm from these limits ⚠️🏅. And what better place to start than with one of the most powerful—Michigan〽️. So, here’s my letter ✉️. Finding the university president’s email was surprisingly easy with a quick Google search 🔍📧.  I am planning on sending similar emails to all the other university presidents!

Dear President Ono,

I am writing to urge the University of Michigan to take a meaningful and public stance against the roster limits proposed in the House v. NCAA settlement. As one of the most storied institutions in collegiate athletics, Michigan has an opportunity—and a responsibility—to stand up for student-athletes, fairness, and the future of college sports.

Already, hundreds of formal objections have been filed, and thousands of signatures have been collected from athletes, alumni, and fans who recognize the harm these roster limits would impose. These restrictions would artificially cap opportunities for student-athletes, prioritizing financial interests over the very individuals the NCAA claims to serve. If enacted, this would mark a historic step backward—reducing scholarships, limiting dreams, and undermining the spirit of competition that makes college athletics so powerful.

History will remember those who stood for something greater than greed. Universities are meant to be champions of integrity, education, and opportunity—not complicit in policies that strip athletes of their chance to compete. Michigan has long prided itself on its leadership both on and off the field. This is a defining moment to reject restrictive, exploitative measures and advocate for a fairer, more sustainable future for college sports.

I respectfully ask that you publicly oppose the roster limits in the House v. NCAA settlement and stand with those who believe in opportunity, fairness, and student-athlete welfare. Your leadership in this moment would send a strong message—that Michigan does not accept arbitrary limitations on athletes’ futures, and that true champions fight for what is right.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to seeing Michigan take a stand on this critical issue.

Sincerely,

-Jackie K
