On Saturday, July 26th, from 10:00-11:30 am there will be a protest in support of the Mt Charleston horses. Click here for the full event information.

Now some of you may be wondering: didn't Fox5 just report that the United States Forest Service said the "remaining horses can stay in Mt. Charleston"?

We have been cautioning folks to be wary of this article (especially the title).

Here is the recent Forest Service statement that the Fox5 article is referring to: the USFS "recognizes the need to monitor the wild horse population in Lee Canyon. Currently there is no established timeline for gathering these horses, but public safety remains a top priority." [We received this statement from Fox5]

This is the same thing the Forest Service said in 2024 regarding the family of 8 horses in Kyle Canyon (article is linked to in the comments): "While they [USFS] recognize there is a need to manage the horses, there is no plan in place or a timeline on the managing of them, as of right now."

But what eventually happened? These horses were ripped from their home.

Note that the Forest Service has a history of misleading the public via their statements to both individuals and media. For instance, on June 26, 2025 Fox5 reported that the USFS stated that the roundup of the Kyle Canyon horses was "on hold." Yet, two weeks later (July 8th) these horses were rounded up.

So, please keep using your voices to protect our horses! And don't let misleading news articles and statements from the Forest Service deter you from protesting and otherwise voicing concerns about the Forest Service's problematic handling of the wild horses in Mt Charleston.

We hope to see you next Saturday!
