Update: Public hearing postponed, but we keep pushing for answers

Thank you again for standing together.
Since this petition launched five days ago, more than 600 people have signed to say one simple thing: no school closures without transparency.
Now we need your help even more.
The Morongo Unified Enrollment Committee meeting that many parents, staff, and residents were preparing to attend was postponed the night before it was scheduled. Then, immediately after, the district sent out a “community input survey” framed around enrollment decline, deficit spending, consolidation, and future program expansion.
Community input matters. But a survey is not a substitute for a real public process.
Right now, the public still has not been given the full picture:
- the site-by-site numbers
- the real alternatives to closure
- the transportation and staffing impacts
- and the actual savings the district says it needs
That is why your signature – and your voice matter.
What you can do now:
- Share this petition with friends, neighbors, and other Morongo Basin families.
- Get informed and ask questions.
- Save the next meeting date: April 9
- Stay ready to show up and speak for transparency, alternatives, and community schools
The district may delay meetings and circulate carefully framed surveys, but facts, numbers, and organized public voices still matter most.
Thank you!
