Mitsui Fudosan, the lead developer of the Jingu Gaien area redevelopment project, has released a website about the project: https://www.jingugaienmachidukuri.jp/
It’s full of nice-sounding phrases reminiscent of advertising copy, but it’s really just empty lip service.
On top of that, it is deliberately misleading, as some of the renderings are different from the finished projection presented at the recent Environmental Assessment Council meetings (which I can’t share with you due to “copyright” issues, which is another problem – another example of them trying to push this project forward with little transparency).
However, what is most disturbing about the project site released by Mitsui Fudosan is the image above. They are trying to turn Jingu Gaien into a shopping mall! (Personally it looks exactly like Bangkok airport or Incheon airport to me…)
It’s difficult to understand why they think it makes sense to chop down 1000 trees and eliminate beloved sports facilities to build this kind of cookie-cutter commercial building.
Now is the time to speak out against this plan – before it’s too late.
Here’s what you can do:
1. Share this petition with anyone you know who hasn’t signed yet, including sharing on social media.
2. Call Mitsui Fudosan, the project owner, or write or e-mail the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and express your opinion!
