Hilton Head Town Council has removed a short-term rental moratorium from consideration.

According to the Island Packet:

“After the meeting, the town council directed the town manager to ‘remove short-term rental, major subdivision, and timeshare moratoriums as options for managing growth on the island.’ Instead, town staff has been asked to focus on drafting updated regulations.”

This is an important step forward and proof that when our community speaks up together, it makes a difference.

But the conversation is not over. Council has directed staff to draft new regulations around short-term rentals, subdivisions, and timeshares. That means our voices are still needed to ensure any new policies are fair, balanced, and do not harm property owners, local businesses, or Hilton Head’s $1.6 billion tourism economy.

We want to thank the many vacation rental managers, property owners, and community members who stood up and spoke out. This was a win for everyone who believes in responsible management and protecting Hilton Head’s future.

👉 I am going to leave this petition live so we can continue showing strength in numbers as the regulations process unfolds. Every new signature adds to our united voice and ensures Town Council knows we’re paying attention.
