Save High Falls LakeJackson, GA, United States

Mar 16, 2026
This is what the article said:
The Development Authority of Butts County announced Friday the closing of the sale of some 282 acres of Authority-owned land to an affiliate of the Hillwood Company.
Located in Phase 2 of the Riverview Business Park, the property has been owned by the authority since 2002.
It has been reported that Hillwood plans to build three industrial buildings totaling 3,000,000 square feet. The property is off Ga. Highway 36 on Short Road in Butts County and Lamar County and borders part of High Falls Lake.
“Hillwood is an experienced and well-regarded developer of industrial properties in Georgia, the United States, and the world,” said John Harkness, chair of the Development Authority of Butts County. “The Development Authority is proud to return the property to the tax rolls for improvements which will increase the tax base and create quality jobs in Butts County.”
A $10 dollar donation will help with our attorney fees to make sure this lake and RIVER is protected. The money donated goes straight to our lawyer preservation fund.
The Three Rivers Regional Commission report states the potential developer estimates the value of the property at build-out will be about $250 million and the estimated annual local tax revenues will be $2.5 million.
