Voting Oct 7, Oct 10, 13 and 17th.  Remember Council voted unanimously in favour of the barge spa,  including ABC, Vote Vancouver, Greens and COPE.  TEAM Mayoral Candidate Colleen Hardwick is the ONLY ONE against it. You can read what she had to say here.

It’s very strange that the Park Board has not been involved in the discussions and decisions to date, even though part of Vanier Park will be impacted.  As you can see in the above photo, half of Teetotaler Beach and the Vanier Park foreshore are not part of the Heritage Harbour Marina water lots but are in Vanier Park and will be impacted by harbour dredging. Surely this is should be a Park Board matter?

Michael Robert Caditz and The Vancouver Independent Parks Party  pledge  to protect Heritage Harbour Marina from the 150ft barge spa. Their position on their website states:

35. HAVN is inappropriate
The 150-foot HAVN barge spa constitutes inappropriate commercial encroachment upon the Heritage Harbour and Teatotaler Beach. Yet again, a public space will be reserved for the elite.

Swimmers endangered

We will prohibit infrastructure or construction right-of-way through Hadden and Vanier Parks, and not allow dredging at Teatotaler Beach. Biocides, hull scraping, and leaking paints will pollute the bay.”

“… As a Vancouver Park Board commissioner, Michael Robert Caditz will seek to depoliticize the Board, bring back ethics to government, listen to what the experts say, and meaningfully interact with citizens.

Michael will fight for our green spaces and tree canopy, and ensure that public resources remain public and available to all.”

Only the Vancouver Independent Parks Party  and Team for a Livable Vancouver are against the barge spa in this location. I believe Park Board candidate Tricia Barker, who’s running for the Vancouver Liberals, is also against it but I haven’t received confirmation as to her Party position.

VOTE Accordingly!
