Thanks to Chaz Dabin for creating this mock up of what the proposed massive 150ft spa barge would look like in Heritage Harbour Marina. The barge insert is a photo of the Havn Saunas barge in Victoria Harbour and is the same size and look of the barge they are proposing for this small heritage marina in Hadden Park, Kitsilano.
This barge is so obviously out of place here. Not only does it block public views from Hadden and Vanier Parks as well as the nearby beach, but it dwarfs the much smaller wooden boats in the harbour and creates a danger in the event of a major storm and King Tide. Surely Havn Saunas and the Maritime Museum can see that this is not a good fit?
And why are the City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Park Board even considering privatizing this beautiful public view? Which public view is to be sold off to the next highest bidder?
