In April 2023 the Hamilton County Commissioners signed a $14,000 a year contract with Granicus. In May 2023 it was supposed to be launched by June 2023.
Now, the launch date is October 2023.
Granicus is a software to find and prosecute illegal STVRs. Rhea county was up and running in two months and the City of Chattanooga was up and running in less than two months.
Yet, we now will have paid Granicus for 7 months with no results or work done. Illegal STVRs are running, taxes are not being collected from them and residents and neighbors are still having to fight to get any enforcement for illegal STVRs. And are told Granicus will fix it.
Write to the Commissioners and Weston Wamp and let them know we do not appreciate them wasting our money and continuing to put the residents, their voters and their neighbors at risk. We demand a moratorium on all STVR permits and applications until Granicus is up and running, the Sheriff's department has clear enforcement policies, and the Building inspection has the new hired individual as stated would come from these funds for enforcement.

Dear County Commissioners and Mr. Wamp,
I am writing to you as a concerned citizen regarding the pressing matter of short-term vacation rentals (STVRs) in our community. It has come to my attention that Granicus, the system intended to regulate these rentals, is not scheduled to be operational until November 2023, despite its signing back in April 2023. This delay raises significant concerns about the enforcement and monitoring of STVRs in our area. Consequently, I am calling upon you to implement an immediate moratorium on all STVR permits and applications until the Granicus system is functional, and certain crucial prerequisites are met.
It is paramount that our community's well-being is upheld through clear enforcement policies carried out by the Sheriff's department. Without well-defined regulations, our neighborhoods are at risk of being disrupted by uncontrolled short-term rentals. Furthermore, it was promised that the revenue generated from these rentals would contribute to hiring new personnel for building inspections and enforcement. I urge you to prioritize this commitment, ensuring that the necessary personnel are in place to effectively manage STVRs and enforce any regulations that may be established.
In light of the current circumstances, I implore you to consider the welfare of our community by instituting a moratorium on STVR permits and applications until Granicus is operational, the Sheriff's department is equipped with clear enforcement policies, and the building inspection team is adequately staffed.
Your dedication to these matters is essential to maintaining the harmony and quality of life within our county. Thank you for your time and attention to this critical issue.
