Info re the Sheffield Plan and details of hearings, all the best to all the people attending the hearings 

The focussed consultation “Sheffield Plan - proposed additional site allocations” closed on 11th July 2025.  All the consultation documents, and responses have been submitted to the Inspectors.  The consultation documents, and Statement of Consultation are all now available to view on the Examination Website (documents EXAM 124 to EXAM 134) and in hard copy at the Council’s First Point Reception in Howden House, Union Street, Sheffield S1 2SH (open 8.30am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday).  We are currently still preparing the consultation responses for publication on the website.  Due to the time it takes to redact personal information, we aim to make the responses available on the Examination website by the beginning of September.  

The Inspectors have now clarified the next steps and have stated that further submissions in the form of hearing statements will not be required.  They will not be expecting to receive any further information / evidence at this stage in the process.  The Programme Officer will get in touch with those respondents who have indicated that they wish to speak at the Examination hearings in due course, once arrangements for the sessions have been finalised.  

Notice of Independent Examination

The hearings are scheduled to recommence at 9.30am on Tuesday 30th September and will be held initially at Sheffield Town Hall, Pinstone Street, Sheffield, S2HH and later sessions at Howden House.  Updated information regarding the location and timing of hearings will be made available in hard copy at Howden House and on the Examination website.

Planning Inspectors K Child BSc (Hons) MA MRTPI, D Troy BSc (Hons) MA MRTPI and R Morgan BSc (Hons) MCD MRTPI have been appointed to conduct the Examination into the soundness and legal compliance of the Sheffield Plan.
