I have been promoting and selling the Maldives since 2009. As a Maldives Expert, I spent many years living between Europe and the Maldives, have travelled to more than 200 Maldivian islands and have had the privilege of helping a number of Maldivians start and develop their own tourism businesses.
The Maldives is therefore much more to me than simply a destination I sell. I have seen first-hand how important the partnership between the Maldivian tourism industry and international tour operators and travel agents is.
We support fair taxation. But I believe that commissions and margins earned through work performed outside the Maldives should not be subject to Maldives TGST. This is about protecting fair international B2B partnerships, Maldivian tourism businesses and the international travel trade that has promoted and supported this destination for decades.
