I’ve paid into the CPP since I was 16—first on the fish-plant line in Nova Scotia, then through a 25-year teaching career that earned me maximum contributions. I never complained—I believed I was investing in my future, that CPP was my pension reward for past service when retiring or becoming disabled.

Then, after a brain injury left me severely disabled, I learned the painful truth: secret agreements under CPP Section 65(3) hand my contributions to private insurers without my knowledge or consent. Although I am fully eligible for CPP-Disability, I don’t receive it—because the private sector has deemed itself more “worthy” of my pension than I am. This hidden claw-back has cost me far more than money; it stole my dignity, my hopes for functional independence, and my trust in Canada’s public pension system.

The Harm in Three Points
1. Stripping Essential Supports

“Secret CPP-D Agreements leave severely disabled Canadians unable to afford life-critical aids—daily assistance, transportation, home ramps, service dogs—undermining our very independence.”

2. Punishing Vulnerability

“This hidden scheme punishes our disability, turning our own pension into a ‘financial incentive’ to force us back to work, regardless of our health.”
The surreal reality: declared unfit for any occupation, yet our pensions are seized to “encourage” a return to work. The private sector profits while we struggle just to live. I admit I was naive—always hopeful and trusting, never looking at the bottom line that says, “profit at any cost.”

3. Eroding Public Trust

“When public pensions can be quietly seized by private insurers, it shatters confidence in the Canada Pension Plan.”

Surrounded by a wall of silence, we must raise our voices.

Please share this story, sign the petition, and help spread the word.

Together, we can demand transparency, restore dignity to all Canadians with disabilities, and revive the true purpose and intent of the CPP—to provide a safety net for Canadians, funded through our own contributions.
