I support inclusion of a quality pedestrian and wildlife crossing in the bridge design for Eastern Avenue PPTA. In my response to the community input on the bridge design, I sent the following:
Alfer discussion with Crozet Community members and environmental non-profit agencies, a wildlife corridor is missing from the draft of the RFP. Please consider adding an item to include that passage. There is a very successful passage in the Crozet connector trail.
I will add today that recent high water incidents have provided ample evidence that a low water passage would not give sufficient escape for pedestrians or wildlife caught near the Creek if something unknown happened upstream. I have seen photos of flood waters as far uphill as the farm gate.
I have also worked with Wild Virginia on their safe passage efforts on Rt 64 and supported their funding for further passages in the General Assembly.
