Despite headlines suggesting a drop in overall illicit crypto activity, scams continue to thrive—and evolve. In fact, both the volume and sophistication of crypto scams have only increased this year. Behind the statistics are real people whose lives are upended by these crimes.
For those of you who are new my own mother fell victim to one of these schemes. She lost her entire life savings, and despite my efforts, I couldn’t get her the help or support she desperately needed. The system failed her—and she’s not alone.
