Because of the growing number of signatures, we were able to bring the petition — and the concerns behind it — directly into a recent meeting with a representative in the justice system during discussions around Bill C-16 (the Protecting Victims Act).

It was an important step in ensuring this issue is being heard at the right level.

From here, our next step is to formalize the effort and work toward securing an MP sponsor to help move the conversation forward at the parliamentary level.
