Dear Supporters,
Thank you so much — we’ve now reached 2,500 signatures on our petition! 🙌 Your support means a great deal and shows how many people care about protecting boys’ rights and bodily integrity.
I also wanted to share important developments in the news that relate directly to this issue:
Firstly, the BBC has reported on a coroner’s warning after the tragic death of a six-month-old baby following a circumcision procedure. The coroner urged the government to introduce regulation, noting that without proper training, accreditation and safeguards for those performing male circumcisions, “there is a risk that future deaths could occur unless action is taken.”
Secondly, The Guardian has published a story about a draft Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) document that suggests male circumcision may be classed as a form of child abuse or an offence against the person if done incorrectly or in inappropriate circumstances. The draft notes that, unlike female genital mutilation, there isn’t a specific criminal offence for male circumcision — but it makes clear that “this can be a painful and harmful practice, if carried out incorrectly or in inappropriate circumstances. It may be a form of child abuse or an offence against the person.”
These stories highlight the increasing public and legal scrutiny around the lack of regulation, oversight and consent when it comes to circumcising boys — exactly the kinds of issues our petition aims to address.
Finally, can I ask for your help to keep the momentum going and reach 5,000 signatures? Please share the petition with friends and family, and post it on Instagram, email, or any social platforms you use. And don’t forget to write to your MP to voice your concerns, and ask them wha they make of recent news. The more voices we add to this campaign, the stronger our collective message becomes.
Thank you again for standing with me — let’s keep the campaign growing! 💪
