On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Friends Of Parkside (FOP) met with the Detroit Housing Commission (DHC) to discuss our lease. During that meeting, DHC informed us that the space previously held by FOP will now be leased to the Parkside Resident Council—with the power to sublease it back to us.

What does this mean?
The future of Friends Of Parkside is no longer solely in DHC’s hands—it now lies with Parkside residents. This is more than just a policy change. It’s a powerful moment of resident-led decision-making. It affirms what we’ve always believed: Parkside belongs to its people.

Your voices, your signatures, your advocacy made this happen.

Now, we urge the Parkside Resident Council to take this opportunity and continue that legacy by subleasing FOP’s former space under the same terms we’ve operated under for years.

This victory is yours. Thank you for standing with us.

Zachary Rowe, FOP Executive Director
