Dear friends, I was encouraged when I read this article today. Michael Hill, the person accused of animal cruelty in Justice's case, was to have a bail hearing today. However, the hearing was postponed because the Justice of the Peace who was to handle the case recused (removed) himself from the case because of his fondness for dogs and concern that there could be a perception that the proceedings would not be fair. Justice Mike Hurst stated "I am unreservedly a dog lover." Thank you Justice Hurst! Although I wish you were handling this case for Justice precisely because you are a dog lover, I appreciate that you did what was best for the case and that you expressed precisely why you were recusing yourself. The courts need more Justices like you!
