One aspect of Leonard’s case I have not spoken openly about is the fact that the actual offender in this case had a lengthy criminal record. Months after our licensed investigator officially recorded the statements that Leonard is innocent, she performed a criminal background check on the man (now deceased) mentioned in the affidavits.
The results returned THIRTEEN Criminal Records, while Leonard was wrongfully convicted with no prior convictions and a TWIC card (TSA background approved). At Leonard’s original trial, one of the investigating officers testified that, besides Leonard, NO other suspects were ever pursued.
Incidents like this showcase that, when police departments fail to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, society is faced with the consequences. If you would like to attend our evidentiary hearing in support of Leonard’s freedom, please join us at 9AM CST at the Mobile County Courthouse on July 12, courtroom 6600. Thank you for standing for the right person being held accountable for this crime.
Until freedom, Mrs. Leonard Coleman <3
