A message to my community about Peacebunny Island:  Megan Schommer, DVM

Most of you have heard the news by now that the CEO of Peacebunny Island has been charged with serious crimes of animal neglect and abuse related to their operation in Savage, Minnesota. In light of this information, I have immediately ended any collaboration with Peacebunny Island. After working together on the RHDV2 vaccination clinics, I was in disbelief to see the reports, photos, and videos that made clear that their outward-facing image of a peaceful oasis for rabbits was a facade. The conditions inside their facility were beyond my imagination. I am heartbroken that these beautiful creatures they were responsible for suffered and died, especially while Peacebunny was simultaneously educating prospective rabbit owners about the proper care and husbandry of companion rabbits. My only solace is knowing that the rabbit rescue community in Minnesota and beyond will provide their animals with loving refuge and care...
