YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE: • GUGGENHEIM RESPONSE: the Guggenheim Museum posted an official statement yesterday 9/21 to their website, Twitter & Instagram accounts in response to the public outrage. They state they stand by their decision to show these exhibits, and give feeble to no real justification. The public is making their voices heard in the Comments sections. • MEDIA COVERAGE: our petition has been getting media coverage from the NY Times, Fox News, onegreenplanet.org, and some number of other online news sources. Let’s give them more to talk about. (Google "Guggenheim animal rights criticism" to see stories.) Comment on, share these stories. • CHIEF CURATOR ALEXANDRA MUNROE RESPONDING TO PRESSURE: her Twitter and Instagram profiles have turned private after coming under significant scrutiny and pressure from the public. Co-Curator Philip Tinari (@philiptinari) on Instagram could use some attention as well. Please be respectful though firm urging him to turn this decision. • TRENDING HASHTAGS: there are 400+ posts on Instagram using the hashtag #tortureisnotart & nearly 200 posts with the hashtag #guggenheimtortureisnotart, both started by @sophiegamand in an effort to bring more awareness to this effort (thank you!) • ACTIVE INDIVIDUALS: thousands of you have individually emailed & called the Guggenheim, and have stated on social media that you will boycott the Guggenheim if they do not reverse this decision. Way to go! After we make it to 100,000 signatures, let’s make it to 500,000. Then 1 MILLION. WHATEVER will convince the Guggenheim that this public response is proportionate to the egregious, disgraceful judgement call they are making with this appalling show.
