THE DECLARATION OF THE POLITICAL LEAGUE

Political League / Քաղաքական լիգա
17 Mar 2020

Next year, this day we will commemorate the 100th anniversary of signing of Moscow Treaty of March 16, 1921. The Treaty, signed without the participation of representatives of Armenia, had a critical role in Armenian nation’s future and the fate of historical homeland letting it the political storm. The Treaty was an unfair, humiliating and unparallel deal made ever against Armenian people.

The sides of the Treaty of Friendship and Brotherhood - Kemalist Turkey and Bolshevik Russia, took advantage of the critical state of Armenian people, maintained a criminal collaboration divided and ruled over the greater part of the native land of Armenian people,  letting only the 1/10 of its historical motherland to Armenians.

With the Moscow and then Kars Treaties Russian side gifted to Turkey the Kars region, the Sourmalu County, and Nakhijevan was given to Azerbaijan. The Republic of Armenia fell under the rule of Soviet.

Estimating the historical-political goal and results of this Russian-Turkish deal and proceeding from undeniable historical facts, after 99 years from signing Moscow Treaty, today on March 16 of 2020, The Political League declares:

-With that action the signing parts continued the policy of genocide committed against Armenians, deprived Armenian nation of its historical homeland, captured living territories from that homeland.

-The document contains crime against the humanity since due to its action the signing sides appropriated the cradle of Armenian ethnic.

-The document contains crime against the Armenian nation and hence it has not expiration date and is a subject of mandatory condemnation and revision.

We, the sons and daughters of Armenian nation, in Armenia and worldwide Diaspora are the generation of our ancestors and we are the lawful inheritors of the territory of our historical motherland. We must nationally overturn the humiliating Armenian-Turkish border forced to Armenian people.

The Republic of Armenia must include the Moscow and Kars Treaties into the pan-Armenian political agenda by concentrating the Armenian capacity and to bring to life the Armenian factor.

On the eve of the 100th anniversary of Moscow Treaty The Political League calls on Armenian people in Armenia and Diaspora, to unite around this pan-Armenian agenda reject the Russian-Turkish counter-Armenian, humiliating treaty that alienated us from our cradle land.

The Political League calls:

- To carry out pan-Armenian, popular actions of protest aimed to overturn the Treaty of March 16 under the motto of No to Moscow and Kars Treaties of 1921.

-  To the state establishments of Armenia - to become the flag bearer in solving this problem: to adopt corresponding law acts, to prepare documents of international law for pursuing the condemnation and revision of Moscow and Kars Treaties.

The Political League believes:

- Our internal disagreement should not be so strong to take over our united, collective capacity for denouncing those shameful historical treaties.

- Also, we have to inform the international community on the historical, judicial and political consequences of treaties that turned to be incurable for several generations of Armenian people.

- Today more than ever, we must be united in sake of correcting the historical injustice and restoring powerful Armenia. We believe in decisiveness of Armenian people to attain that national goal and pursue national interests.

The Political League with this petition as the starting step of pan-Armenian actions initiates online collection of signatures against Russian-Turkish treaties of 1921.

We call for representatives of progressive minded people to join us, irrespective of their nationality, race, religious and color of skin.
