After more than a decade of fighting for change — it’s FINALLY written in black and white.
The Domestic Abuse Commissioner’s Family Court Review (Oct 2025) confirms what so many survivors have been saying for years:
Domestic abuse is the “everyday business” of the family courts — present in 87% of child arrangement cases, yet still minimised, misunderstood, and mishandled.
Despite progress on paper, the same structural barriers persist:
A pro-contact culture that places access above safety
Adversarial hearings that retraumatise survivors
Resource and training gaps across agencies
Silo working that ignores the full context of abuse
Children’s voices are silenced.
Victims’ experiences are doubted.
Coercive control — now recognised in law — is still treated as “less serious.”
I’ve been campaigning since 2014, after surviving my own horrific ordeal through the family courts.
I spent £14,000 proving that I was a good parent — the breadwinner, the main nurturer — all while being blamed by the system for the violence I endured.
Somehow, I became the one on trial. How is this? Well read the report!
A system so archaic, it might as well have drowned me as a witch or burned me at the stake.
And here we are in 2025, still disbelieving victims, ignoring evidence, and making life-altering decisions on a balance of probabilities — with a side order of bias.
It’s time to #OpenFamilyCourt.
Transparency and accountability must replace secrecy and shame.
Survivors, professionals, and policymakers must unite to end the silence surrounding this broken system.
I’ve been calling for this change for years — and now, finally, this report proves what victims have been saying all along.
But we can’t stop here.
Please read and sign this petition to open the family courts and bring real reform!
