Thank you all for your overwhelming support and continued public sprit, it’s encouraging to know that so many support this petition and it’s desired outcome.
The removal of the flags have recently been acknowledged by a few members of the town council resulting in talks to have the flags (possibly along with others) returned. Which is a great result and will the cherry on top of the newly renovated promenade!
However, it has come to light that there have been a handful of hateful, violent and racist comments made towards the mayor. Whilst I empathise with your anger, this behaviour is completely unacceptable and is not what this petition stands for.
The mayor has acted without consulting her council on a very controversial matter based on her own thoughts and concerns. Whilst doing so in an official capacity she has brought herself and office into disrepute, infringing on the councils code of conduct.
This petition calls for an individual to be held accountable, in a way that allows for the appropriate actions to be taken by following procedures and protocols.
