Nazri Ahmad, Mahadi Mohd Rodzi, Haji Arshad, Mohideen Abdul Kader and Khoo Salma set out to deliver the memorandum to the Chief Minister, proceeded to the Esplanade to see the boats (and oh, what a beautiful clear blue sky and blue sea), fishermen leaders stood up on the sea wall and held up the Memorandum to show the flotilla of boats that had gathered on the sea.
We were stopped by a police barricade which only allowed the 5-person delegation through. A carnival like atmosphere as the crowd waited and sang behind the barricade.
We were stopped at the gate and they sent an information officer to receive the memorandum, Nazri told the press that the government is showing its arrogance - the Chief Minister is not treating the fisherment with respect. A representative of the opposition came out to address the crowd at the Esplanade.

Join the fight for our fishermen’s rights. The Penang South Reclamation (PSR) & Butterworth waterfront threaten fish catch & marine aquaculture, and will destroy marine life & environment.
4th November, our fishermen won’t be going to sea. They want to keep fishing, but reclamation means no more fresh fish, crabs, prawns... forever! So please help us STOP reclamation!

Hari Solidariti Nelayan Marilah bersama mempertahankan hak-hak nelayan. Projek Penambakan Selatan Pulau Pinang (PSR) & Butterworth Waterfront menjejaskan tangkapan & penternakan ikan memusnahkan alam sekitar & haiwan marin.
Bila nelayan tak turun laut, bekalan makanan laut terputus. Hari ini kami nak sedarkan orang ramai, jika sumber perikanan ditambak, maka bukan sahaja bekalan makanan laut terputus sehari, tapi mungkin selamanya!
