"The Penang state government is planning to build three new islands to fund its controversial Penang Transport Master Plan - but is it the best solution for its traffic woes?"
The presenter asked the right question: You can't get a straw at McDonalds because it will kill marine life and turtles, so why are we allowing the Penang South Reclamation (PSR)?
Kudos to the R.AGE team for producing such a clever and concise video about a complicated topic. Dr Chee Su Yin, who was interviewed, made these remarks in a FB post:
“I spoke to R.AGE for a good half hour but only appeared in the video for 2 minutes(?). The presenter reiterated my points eloquently but looks like there wasn't enough stress on what eco-engineering is and what it is for. Firstly, I mentioned during the interview (but not included in the video) that no amount of eco-engineering can return the biodiversity of a 500 year-old coral reef which is destroyed from development. The ecological and carbon footprint from land reclamation and building of islands is tremendous."
