Safety for the Doctors in India
Safety for the Doctors in India
The Issue
Respected Sir
The doctors of this country are under a constant threat while treating patients especially when the outcome of the treatment is negative. Innumerable doctors have lost their lives or have been seriously injured by the attendants of the parties. The physical attacks are then followed by lodging criminal cases leading to the arrest of the doctors. Needless to say that this has instilled a fear factor in the psychology of the doctors and it reflects in the quality of the treatment. Treating patients requires a peaceful composure and mind which is impossible in the presence of violent and aggressive attendants. The Government sector is more at risk especially in the state of Jharkhand where the infrastructure is very less and there is a severe shortage of Doctors and related human resources. On top of it the beauracracy is breathing down the neck of every doctor.
Sir something has to be done immediately considering the grave situation as Innumerable lives are lost due to the referring of critical patients who could have been saved by timely intervention had the fear of backlash not been present.
The problem requires implementation of a centralised law regarding the menace and imposing a hefty fine and punishment for the breakers of the law.Proper infrastructure in the government health centres especially in Jharkhand and proper amenities to the working doctors with a reasonable workforce in terms of paramedics.
