Politicians resign from one political party and seek re-election under another party.While this is allowed Constitutionally, the costs involved in holding these elections are borne by the People of India through the money paid in taxes(Consolidated Fund).

We have just concluded with an election in Goa on the 4th of February , the results of which were declared on the 11th of March.The costs incurred to hold these elections has been calculated in excess of 57 crores of rupees while rumour has it that it is 100 crores.Today the 16th of March one legislator has resigned from the seat thereby forcing another election on the constituents.

While i agree it is his constitutional right to seek re-election i feel the cost involved in holding these polls should be borne by the legislator seeking re election as he has forced this election due to his personal commitments.This will go a long way in alluding the fears of the common man who wants to prevent unnecessary wastage of the tax payers money.
