In the world, about 100 million homeless children are living on the streets. This petition calls on all world leaders to make sure every homeless child is able to use his/her rights and have a safe and better future.

            According to Unicef, article 27, children have the “Right to have Standard living, which is necessary for their physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development”. They also have the right to be “protected from violence, exploitation, abuse, neglect and maltreatment.”

       Why is it that these rights aren’t applied to the homeless children who spend their life on the streets? Are these innocent lives protected from the violence that is on the streets? Do they have a standard of living that is morally and ethically proper?

NO.

    With all the policies and rights there is still an abundance of street kids around the world. Just by merely writing a law or an Act isn’t the solution to the problem; these laws and Acts must be implemented because without implementation they do not serve their purpose.

     A homeless child’s life can be changed with the rights that they already have. Just because a child cannot stand up on a podium and voice their opinion and needs, we the people must make sure their voice is heard. Every human being is entitled to a safe, protective home and these homeless children must no longer spend their days on the dangerous streets. Living on the streets and living in a safe home are two very different things.

     These children are the future of a better world. These innocent lives do not deserve to live apart from what they deserve. Their essential needs must be met in order to give the world a better future. Regardless of what a child’s background is, he/she has the right to food, clothing, and shelter. These innocent lives cannot choose where they are born, who their parents are, or what their background is, but they sure can choose to change their lives and the first step in guiding them to a better future is taking them off the streets and providing them with a safe and protective environment where they can thrive to their fullest potential.

     There is nothing worse than spending a life with regrets and sadness. No one deserves to live in sadness. Let’s take a step in the right direction and have the children’s voice heard. Please sign this petition to make sure that every homeless child has the opportunity to succeed, sign this petition to provide safety for our future, and sign this petition to make sure every child wakes up happy and not in the fear that comes with living on the streets. These children are our future and it is our responsibility to make sure that our future, our legacies have all the basic needs in order to thrive and reach their fullest potential.
