Psychometry tests of prospective pilots

Psychometry tests of prospective pilots
The Issue
I want to draw the attention of the Government especially the DGCA and all the Heads of various Airlines currently operating in India towards the grave injustice being meted out to the prospective pilots by way of conducting psychometry tests of these candidates.
These candidates have obtained their commercial pilot licence after putting in rigorous hard work and sheer determination to serve the country. They have gone through tough times during their training then only they were qualified to get the typerated commercial pilot licences.
Their parents have cut their meals to impart proper training to these candidates. Some have taken huge amounts of loans beyond their capacity so that their wards can complete the training with the intention that their children can become good commercial pilots and serve the country.
In a country like India where there is a huge gap between the demand and supply of pilots the candidates are being asked to go through psychometric tests, which is a matter of grave concern.
It is a scientifically establisged fact that the psychological condition of an individual is directly corelated to the surrounding atmosphere. The prospective candidates have gone through tough times at this tender age to get their licences and are waiting since long for job opportunities to open up. Waiting for job opportunities is the most frustrating experience that our trained youth has to go through thus making a serious dent in their psychological state of mind. Once they get the jobs their psycological state of mind automatically gets a boost. Thus it keeps on changing from time to time. Even those candidates who qualified the psychometric tests today can go through a negative psychological condition after getting the appointment due to varios personal reasons.
After along gap Air India advertised 405 posts of 320 typerated senior co pilots and Air Alliance advertised some 64 of commercial pilots. Against 405 posts only about 400 candidates appeared out of which 150 were rejected in psychometry tets. Whereas in the case of Air Alliance roughly 1800 candidates applied out of which about 1000 candidates were rejected on the basis of psychometry tests.
It is therefore impressed upon the concerned authorities to immediately set aside the said psychometry tests conducted on the prospective pilots and do justice with the youth and their parents
