Since the petition began the federal government has now selected Kimba as the location for the dump. We all know rural SA is always struggling economically so they’ve use the carrot of $31 million to persuade the Kimba community the dump will boost their economy. They are being extremely deceptive and nowhere have they mention that the dump will need to be monitored for 200,000 years! We don’t even have a recorded history that long! Even worse the waste will be transported from all around the country, from Lucas Heights reactor, from hospitals and radiographers, from universities and research centres, all travelling on our public roads and railways to Kimba. We could have these trucks right in front of us on the highway. If one is in an accident there is not even a proper clean up plan for this besides the general chemical spill process. The people of SA are about to become the radioactive dump of the nation. This is absolutely horrendous and irresponsible with an ‘out of sight out of mind’ mentality from the people in the Eastern states where most of these ministers live. Keep up to date by following the story online and if you can attend all the protest rallies as they happen. This petition will continue with the aim to get 200,000 signatures so it can be tabled in federal parliament. All support is appreciated, protect the future for the children of SA
