Dear all, I am so glad to see that so many Australians are taking a stand against the detention of asylum seekers on Manus Island and Nauru. This past week we have learnt some horrific statistics - that 23 men, women and children on the islands have experienced sexual abuse and assault. Two women have also recently come out reporting that they have been raped on Nauru, and one woman is pregnant. Malcolm Turnbull has thus far stalled on the issue, saying that Australia must trust Nauru. However this certainly isn't the case - all forms of violence aren't just continuing but they're escalating. If you have not yet shared out petition with your friends, co-workers and family, please do! We would love to reach 50,000 signatures before we take the petition to Malcolm Turnbull next week.
