Parliament Resumes, and Senate Submissions Published

Commonwealth Parliament resumes for another year today. As with previous years, marriage equality is a key issue on the political agenda – with the Senate Inquiry into the Marriage Amendment (Same-Sex Marriage) Bill due to report next Monday (13 February), and the possibility that a conscience vote will be debated inside the Coalition next Tuesday (14 February).
But, as well as campaigning for marriage equality to be passed, we must also keep up the pressure to ensure that, whenever that finally happens, it is genuine equality – most importantly, that it does not include new special rights to discriminate against LGBTI couples simply because of who they are.
My submission to the Senate Inquiry on this subject – arguing that equal must mean equal – has been published. You can read it here: https://alastairlawrie.net/2017/02/07/equal-means-equal-submission-to-inquiry-into-marriage-amendment-same-sex-marriage-bill/
To show that you support genuine equality, without exception, please continue to share our petition – and tell Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, loud and clear, that Equal love must not be treated unequally.
