Save The Canadian Seals

Save The Canadian Seals
The Issue
Did you know that the Canadian seal hunt in responsible for the cruel deaths of hundreds of thousands of baby seals each year?
Facts:
- In Canada 97% of harp seals are pups and are killed under three months of age.
- The Canadian Marine Mammal Regulations that allow the hunt of these seals stipulates that the sealers may kill seals with wooden clubs, hakapiks (large icepick like clubs) and guns.
- The seal skin Processing plant deducts $2.00 per skin for more than one bullet hole. Therefore, leaving many of these seals who are wounded to suffer in agony.
- Clubbing and shooting of seals in Canada are inhumane and needs to be PROHIBITED!!!
- More than one million seals have been slaughtered in the past five years.
- Seals are killed for their fur, but the Canadian government representatives define the seal slaughter as “primarily a fur hunt”. This is a game to them.
- Less than 1% adds to an economic value. The Canadian government could easily shut down the seal hunt and replace it with economical alternatives.
- Seals are not over populated, like deer, and there is no reason to kill these young pups. It should not be a game. These are lives sent to earth for a purpose!!!
