Hi everyone!
It has been a week since 45 individuals representing political, civil society and intellectual circles came together to sign the Citizens' Declaration calling for change and reform for Malaysia. This has now become the #SaveMalaysia movement and the momentum has only just started to build.
There have been many doubts, controversies and worries expressed regarding this initiative. Because of our history, there is much reason to be cynical and skeptical. People have a right to be.
What we need to encourage is for the Malaysian people to be aware that we have a choice. Change can only happen if we are willing to work for it. Change is never easy.
Everyone has a right to sign or not sign this petition in support of the Citizens' Declaration and the #SaveMalaysia movement.
Read Ren Chung's article (linked here) on whether working with Mahathir is the right thing to do, and allow our acquaintances, friends and family to decide whether this is something they can support.
It is that freedom of choice that we fight to preserve.
This is our country. Let's speak out!
