We understand that there has not been any movement in the court case demanding the MOU that was signed by the Government of Jamaica and CHEC/China over the Goat Islands. The suit was to be heard in June and we have no idea where it stand as JET (Jamaica Environment Trust) (the chief plaintiff) has not given any updates as to why the hearing did not take place in the first part of June 2015 as announced last year. As far as we understand there is still the push to use the Portland Bight Protected Area for this development, and have not heard or seen anything that would suggest otherwise. Our tactic at this point is to increase the awareness of the benefits of the PBPA as the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. We urge you to continue to get petition signatures, contact local Jamaican officials as well as those in the international community to help us bring this about.
