La corte del Cusco admite la demanda interpuesta por el grupo Unión Ciudadana por la Defensa y Valoración del Patrimonio Cultural y del Ambiente para detener las obras del aeropuerto. En efecto, el Segundo Juzgado Civil de la Corte Superior de Justicia del Cusco dispuso que se inicie proceso contra el Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones, el Ministerio de Cultura y el consorcio coreano que gestiona la obra. La asociación civil demandante argumentó que el terminal aéreo provocará un “daño irreparable” en el patrimonio arqueológico de la región. 

Cuzco court admits lawsuit filed by the Citizen Union for the Defense and Valuation of Cultural Heritage and the Environment against Peru’s Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Culture and the South Korean consortium contracted to build the airport. The lawsuit claims the Peruvian government is violating historical heritage protection rights.
