Abigail Castelli started this petition to President Xi Jinpeng and

In Mainland, China, testing imported cosmetics, personal care, household cleaning products, etc, sold in physical stores, is mandatory. I have read articles, watched real footage, read in detail of the gory, cruel, sick torture and abuse of animals in these labs. I’ve seen images of these tortured and later murdered animals. These images have left scars in my soul. I have cats. I have lost my cats and found them. Many people have either lost their pets or allow them to go outside. What if that bunny, cat, dog, guinea pig, etc, belonged to someone who loved them dearly? Imagine how broken and damaged they would be if they knew what happened to their adorable, sweet little bunny, kitty, mouse, etc? Humans are mammals, cats are mammals, dogs are mammals, mice and rats and bunnies are mammals. We all eat, breathe, love, look after and nurse our babies. What if that animal wasn’t a pet, but rather the mother or father of their little bunnies, or the baby of a hurt mama mouse who has been looking for her baby for so long? Can someone explain to me how human life is more important than animal life? Also, why mandate animal testing on products when most of these are well known, trusted brands worldwide? Shouldn’t that be enough evidence that they are safe to be sold in Chinese stores? In addition, these cruel, gory practices performed on animals in labs have been proven to be NOT reliable. For one thing, a mouse is not a human. Also, everyone is different. Even among animals. One animal might be highly allergic to one type of scent, ingredient, or soap, and another may be just fine. In 2019, however, we DO have alternatives to animal testing, such as in-vitro tests for safety. If absolutely necessary, allow a volunteering human to test for allergenic effects (unless the allergies are contagious or life-threatening, then always stick to in vitro tests.) As for a law against animal testing, I would absolutely recommend a sentence of 25 years to life in federal prison, as well as having to pay a fine, any amount the judicial system in China feels would fit the penalty of those who abused, tortured, and murdered animals for the sake of profit.

As a closing statement, no I am not vegan or vegetarian. But I am 100% against animal testing. To me, eating meat for sufficient protein and vitamins is NOT the same as buying non necessities that come from companies who practice or allow animals to be deprived of food, water, clean cages or enough space to move, and many other physical forms of torture I do not want to say. I cannot, with my conscience and love for animals, and my full support of animal welfare, purchase any more brands sold here in the United States who have chosen to sell in Chinese stores where animal testing IS mandatory. I believe there is hope, for animals and animal lovers. I believe there will be changes made. Let’s all work together to make this change. I promise it will be worth it. If you would be willing to investigate these labs, and seek change in the system, without harming any more animals, this world would already be very far on its way to doing the RIGHT thing, and proving that there ARE alternatives. Would you be willing to join many of us, and save the animals?
