Hello! Rebecca has been working very hard behind the scene and I am very pleased to be able to share some good news with you via her gfm campaign. Thank you Rebecca! Thanks again as always for caring about the Animals of Indonesia and for your continue support ~ P Holmes Update 54 Posted by Rebecca A. Rodriguez 30 mins ago Share 1 Humane Education in Indonesia In Indonesia, there are advocacy groups struggling to address the heart-wrenching abuse and exploitation that animals are subjected to daily. Like many organizations around the world, they are functioning in a constant state of crisis. One desperate animal after another, suffering at the hands of uneducated, greedy or heartless people. While many of these groups strive to educate their communities, they are spread thin. I have always been a huge believer in the power of education and as a filmmaker, I understand the power of television and films to inspire change. And today, I’m proud to announce that we have contributed the necessary funding for the creation of a new NGO that will take up the important task of bringing humane education to the country of Indonesia. Please meet the Indonesia Animal Welfare Society (IAWS) who, with the assistance of The National Humane Education Society in the United States, will launch an in-school program to inspire compassion and educate children about the importance of humane values. In addition, the organization will “fight to increase Indonesian zoo welfare standards by introducing and advocating the application of the Five Freedoms for Captive Wildlife”. We have provided the necessary funding for the formation of the organization, I have solidified the support of the National Humane Education Society and am working with IAWS to have all of the educational materials translated to Bahasa Indonesian. We have provided financial support for a collection of school visits and will assist with the creation of videos that can be shown as part of the school presentations. And we have provided the financial support for the organization’s website that is currently under construction. http://www.iawsociety.org/ This is an Indonesia based organization, operated by an amazing group of Indonesian people, who believe in kindness and compassion. Together we ARE making a difference! The action of the day for all the Facebookers: Visit the Indonesia Animal Welfare Society’s Facebook page and give them a “LIKE”. Post an encouraging note, if you feel inspired! https://www.facebook.com/IndonesiaAnimalWelfareSociety/ Please continue to support this campaign! Reaching our fundraising goal will allow us to more amazing things! More great news coming! With my deepest gratitude, Rebecca PS: Our Boycott Indonesia Tourism petition is posted on The Petition Site / Care2 and Change.org. Between the two sites, we have over 85K signatures!
