Hey Everyone-
Today's action is very simple:
Send an email to news organizations in your state, and tell them to report on our petition (Change.Org/CancelStudentLoans). Give them our contact info (justice@studentloanjustice.org, 202-594-1120), and tell them that we have thousands of people in the state who are willing to be interviewed to put a local, human face to this problem.
We stand at the ready to make dozens, or even hundreds of local news stories happen, but YOU need to initiate it. When you set 'em up, we'll knock 'em down!
This petition requires more than just your signature to succeed. This is a big thing we are aiming to make happen. We need your efforts. If you want to go above and beyond, check out our daily updates, and do all of the quick actions for the past week, or even longer. This will help tremendously.
If you REALLY want to go above and beyond, get us a phone meeting (use the contact info above) with the Governor's office of the states of Georgia, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Missouri, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Indiana, Maryland, or South Dakota. Tell them we would like to discuss this research with them. A meeting with the Governor or Chief of Staff would be preferred, but anyone in their office is great. We can do all of the talking if necessary, but we need local people to make those meetings happen. Again...if you set'em up, we'll knock 'em down!
I really hope you are impressed with how far we've come since being a voice in the wilderness when we started the petition. Today, student loan cancellation by executive order is at the top of the news, increasingly likely, and we have excellent bipartisan bankruptcy legislation that has an exceedingly good chance of passing. THIS HAS BEEN A 16+ YEAR BATTLE, AND WE CAN FINALLY SEE THE FINISH LINE. This all started here. Thanks to everyone who has been helping to push. We are now so close...
