Thanks to everyone who contacted the media last week. So far, we've done interviews for local news stations in Ohio, Baltimore, Mississippi, Chicago, Iowa, an international media company, and also a national news outlet. We are still looking for people in Iowa to interview. If this is you or someone you know, please let us know!
The petition is at 580,000 signatures. We have a large muscle to flex right now. So Today, we are asking everyone to do one simple task:
Contact the White House, and tell them something like this:

Mr. President-
You have it in your power to cancel all federally owned student loans by executive order. You can do this without congressional approval, without congressional appropriation, without needing to raise any additional tax money to "pay for" the cancellation, and without adding anything to the national debt.
YOU NEED TO DO THIS BEFORE THE ELECTION.
According to your own people at the Department of Education 80% of all federal loan borrower- 44 million voters- were never going to be able to repay their loans- and this was before the coronavirus hit. This is a failed, big-government, nationally threatening lending system. It is vanishing into a mist of illegitimacy as we speak. It has to go away, for the good of the country.
You- as President- have a responsibility to stand up to big-government, DRAIN THE SWAMP, zero-out these loans, massively stimulate the economy, and come up with a better, cheaper, less vicious and predatory way to fund higher education in this country going forward.
Right now, these 44 million voters( most of whom are politically independent or republican) are strongly favoring Biden on this issue. He has said he will return bankruptcy protections to the loans, and that he will cancel loans. While his pledge is not very believable, it is enough to tip the scales for many if not most of these borrowers.
This is, by far, the best, easiest, cheapest, and most just way to stimulate the economy. You should have done this first, actually!
Please do the right thing before the election, Mr. President. I- and 44 million other voters- will be watching closely.
