Good Sunday Folks!
We're getting some pretty good media done for the petition. So far, we've been featured on Fox News Radio, Minneapolis Progressive Radio, Coast 2 Coast. C-SPAN, Status Coup, and the Good Men Project. We can do better though. We now have 300,000 signatures on our petition. That is newsworthy. Did you contact a media organization about it last week? Are you going to this week? Your efforts are the only thing that is going to make this happen.
Remember: EVERY other student loan "cancellation" proposal being bandied about in the media is NONSENSE! Congress simply will never pass meaningful loan cancellation. They may pass something they CALL loan cancellation, but it will be nearly worthless (ie only partial/capped cancellation, means tested, other strings attached, etc.). Whatever good might come from Congress will be bureaucratized to death by a Department of Education that has proven repeatedly that it has no intentions of cancelling any loans. Don't be distracted by it folks. The other proposals will do nothing for us but distract, demotivate, and ultimately disappoint, and demoralize us. Don't fall for it.
We are it.
Whether you like the current president or not is not important. Pushing him in a very public way is what really matters for getting these loans GONE. Trump is malleable, and in a very tough election, he will gladly cancel the loans to get the votes of the 55 million borrowers and cosigners out there. With a million signatures on our petition, I like our chances. With 3 million, I would say it would be almost a done deal.
WE HAVE IT COMPLETELY WITHIN OUR POWER TO GET THIS DONE.
If you have motivation problems, just think about your life without student loans. That should be all you need to get after it. If not, consider that we are fighting this fight for the country, for the constitution, and for hundreds of millions of people who will follow in our footsteps.
