Hi everyone,

We just wanted to share an exciting update with you all. Until now everything has been quiet.  COVID has ground a halt to most things but we wanted to share with you that we are now in receipt of our daughter’s CORRECTED birth certificate.  Her birth has been re-registered and so our family is now legally recognised here in Ireland.  Emotions were high today when we opened the envelope that came in the door.

Since we started this petition way back when, we have seen such support from both people we know and from total strangers.  We have always been working in the back ground so that we could have this special day.  Our daughter is extremely happy to be able to go and stay with her Gran and Papa in the UK and Lesley is relieved that nobody here forward can ever question her status as a parent.  

Due to COVID, we can’t yet apply for our daughter’s passport.  We need restrictions to be back at level 4 so the Passport Office will take applications again but what’s a few more weeks, right?!  We can’t go anywhere right now anyway but hopefully we will make that trip across the water this summer.

We are so grateful for all of you who have joined us on this journey and we want you to know that your signature on our petition meant something.  You played a part in changing laws in Ireland to allow families like ours to live without discrimination and to live with full and equal rights.  Like we said, love will ALWAYS prevail.  Each of you are superheroes and we will always remember how over 13,000 people we don’t know, were there for us.  We will take that kindness and pay it forward always.
