The story was brought to my attention recently. It is disgusting that after 40 years, his loan to the government has not been paid back to him. To be clear, he didn't gift the government the money. The government gave him a house after his monumental victory becoming the first Ghanaian world boxing champion. However, his loan which allowed to struggling government to purchase sardines for the people was not a quid-pro-quo. It is high time that the government of Ghana repay him for his massive endeavor to save the country during one of its worse periods.
