Kenya has burned 15 tons of stockpiled ivory and has promised to burn remaining ivory stockpiled by year's end. Additionally, penalties have been stiffened for involvement in poaching with prison and stiffer jail time penalties being imposed.
This brief article states that most of the ivory and rhino horn is going to Asian markets, however, the United States ranks behind China in the illegal importation of ivory.
