Since 2014, Botswana had been known as one of the safest places in Africa for elephants to live, since the country had an armed anti-poaching unit and a policy of shoot-to-kill (poachers). In May of this year (2018), the new president of Botswana, President Mokgweetsi Masisi, disarmed the anti-poaching unit. As a result, in a very short time, almost 90 elephants were brutally slaughtered on this previously protected territory.

Please, President Masisi, reinstate the armed anti-poaching unit in your country. The remaining elephants are counting on you to protect them, and the entire world is watching as their bodies pile up. Please save them. You have the power to do this. You could be known the world over as the man who saved the elephants, or the man who chose to allow them to be slaughtered. I hope you choose the former. Thank you for your time.
