What started like a joke around 2003/2004 where we had a high prevalence of kidnappings for ransom of foreign oil workers in the Niger-Delta has now become a national plague. According to the United Nations Human Rights Watch Nigeria now ranks 3rd in kidnapping prevalence. These kidnappers spare no one - doctors, lecturers, students, business people, politicians and foreigners, etc. The families of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Viola Onwuliri, Chimamanda Adichie, Former President Goodluck Jonathan, chibok girls have also not been spared. Personally I know 3 people in the past 2 years that have also been kidnapped. The next person might just be you or your family member. We must stop this cancer by urging President Mohammadu Buhari to sign into law, capital punishment for kidnapping in Nigeira.
