Members of parliament in Tanzania receive a monthly salary of 3.8m shillings and 8m shillings monthly allowance, plus 320,000 shillings daily sitting and accommodation allowance. This means monthly our MPs are paid 11.8m, and during a parliamentary session an addition accumulative of their daily sitting allowance. On top of this our MPs think that they're entitled to more than 90m for their new luxury SUVs (mashangingi). Even though 50% of the amount is given as a loan while remaining amount is covered by the government. Still 90m is a lot of money to be spent on a car alone. In a poor country like this where people still die of hunger and malaria and more 50% of our children have malnutrition and they cannot walk properly because they are plagued by jiggers simply because they have no shoes. In a country where more than 95% of car owners drive used cars, i don't see the reason why our MPs shouldn't buy used durable cars which are affordable.
The fact Tanzania is still a very poor: 11.8 monthly for our MPs is just a lot of money. We have seen efforts by our sitting president to curb government spending so far and we applaud you for that. This is what this petition is seeking:
1. MPs daily sitting allowance should be scrapped. Why do we pay them to show up to work? After all sitting allowances for other groups in government have been scrapped why not theirs?
2. MPs car loan should be cut by 50%. MPs should either buy used durable SUVs just like the rest of us do or choose more affordable SUV models. And the loan should be made available to new MPs only, no returning MP should have access to the loan.
3. Their monthly allowance should be cut by 75%
Below is proposal the saved money to be used
i. This money should finance schools as per below:
a. Purchase suitable teaching instruments and apparatus used in the laboratory
b. Teachers need to be trained on how best to teach students in the laboratory
c. Build sanitary premises for our schools in villages.
d. Teacher’s salaries and allowances should be revised.
e. Build teachers houses or renovate the old houses

ii. Health
a. It’s not only Muhimbili where admitted people sleep on floor, this is a national crisis. More hospital beds are needed all over Tanzania’s government hospitals.
b. Our hospitals need to be equipped with laboratories.
c. More Doctors, nurses and lab technicians need to be trained.
d. Medicine to be available and for free.
e. Sanitary premises needs to be fixed in the hospitals.
f. Education on AIDS and all communicable diseases like Cholera needs to be taught to every mwananchi.

iii. Agriculture
a. We need more Agricultural experts.
b. We need modern agricultural tools.
c. We need to practice irrigation agriculture.

iv. Environment
a. We need proper drainage systems in our cities.
b. Garbage collecting only happens in high end streets not in normal mwananchi streets.
c. Public toilets needs to be in place.
d. Market place needs renovation, proper drainage system and sanitary premises built.

These are some of areas which can get badly needed attention with money saved from excessive MPs allowances.
