On a fundamental level level, it is clear that youths ( Young people aged between 15 and 24 ) have the best understanding of the realities of life and as such have much to offer as policy/law makers.

Designinga parliament comprising of young people, the state stands a much greater chance of success, as intervention will have greater ownership and legitimacy amongst youths. ignoring this dynamic can have potentially negative consequences. Broadly speaking, youth participation encourages youth to become active members of the democratic society.

For youth themselves, active and equal participation in decisions affecting their lives provides hope and dignity, fostering a better understanding of community issues and a sense of inclusion and belonging.

There is a need to "get it right" by and for the youths. Amending Section 106(b) of the 1999 comstitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to reduce the age of qualification for membership for House of Assembly from 30 to 25 is vital in order to create the necessary opportunity for Nigerian youths to participate actively in Law making and policy development so they can be long time advocate in the fight against un (der) employment, corruption, and poverty. This would inevitably make them passive nation builders.
