On March 14, 2016, Ganesh Joshi attacked and severely injured police horse Shaktiman in what remains one of the worst cases of human brutality against animals. The horse was on duty to curb public protests and Joshi used a club to break the horse's leg in full public view. There is a picture of him doing so. The horse subsequently died.

What punishment did Joshi get? 4 days in jail, a fine of less than Rs 1000 and in reward of his brave action, a BJP ticket to fight the Uttarakhand Assembly elections as a candidate for Mussoorie and is going around asking for sympathy votes because he spent 4 days in jail!

If such persons, who brazenly break the law are rewarded, then there is no hope for honest citizens. Shaktiman was a police horse on duty, and should be treated as a member of the police force. It is as if Joshi had injured a policeman who subsequently died.

Help me petition Amit Shah, President of the BJP and Narendra Modi, PM, to disqualify this man from any public office by stripping him of his candidacy.
